Our Classes

The purpose of Yoga Central is to provide a peaceful, nurturing environment where people from all traditions can step away from their busy lives and experience the many aspects of yoga.

At Yoga Central, we offer classes seven days a week. In addition to the daily classes, we offer Private Yoga Instruction and Thai Yoga Therapy sessions that cater to your specific requirements.

Whether you are a seasoned practitioner of yoga, or just beginning to explore a world of new possibilities, we are here to support you in your journey to develop inner peace and outer strength through this ancient and powerful practice called Yoga.

Our compassionate, dedicated staff of experienced instructors will guide you on a journey into healing mind, body, and spirit.

Yoga Classes

Contemporary Fusion Dance Class: Taught by Shata, no dance experience necessary. If you've always desired to take dance lessons, or are ready to come back into a structured contemporary dance class, join us! This class is for all who are inspired to dance and are ready to let go of inhibitions and move in new ways. Designed for adults and teens of all levels. Beginners are welcome. Dance is not just an art form, it's a heart form.
$62 per month. Yoga class package holders get 20% off this specialty class. (For the first 2 months of August and September 2010 only, yoga class package holders can take this class as part of any yoga class package.)

Introduction to Yoga: This class introduces the student to the safe practice of yoga in six step-by-step classes emphasizing safety and enjoyment of practicing yoga. A strong foundation for any student's yoga experience.

Agni Flow Hot Yoga: Purify, detoxify and Ignite Your Practice in this heated vinyasa yoga class. The room will be heated to allow for a deeper experience of this transformative approach to vinyasa flow yoga.

Nada Yoga : Nada Yoga is the yoga of sound -- using sound to unite body, mind and spirit. Sat Prem’s extraordinary collection of Gemstone Crystal bowls are one of the largest collections in the Southeastern U.S.

The angelic sounds of the bowls can actually be felt reverberating in your body, dissolving stress and tension. Many attendees report amazing breakthroughs and personal transformation as a result of these healing journeys. Love Donation.

Power Yoga: This class steps Energy Yoga up one level. It incorporates more advanced postures within the Vinyasa flowing style of yoga. Be prepared to sweat!

Energy Yoga: This class is for those students who are seeking a more challenging session. Energy Yoga will help improve strength, flexibility, muscle tone and lung capacity. Though prior yoga experience is recommended, physically fit beginners are welcome.

Family & Friends Yoga: This class offers a way for students to share the benefits of yoga with their families and friends. Each student is allowed to bring one family member or friend per session. Students use one class - family and friends are free!

Gentle Yoga: This class combines basic postures with breathing and relaxation to provide a gentle to moderate workout for the entire body.

Kundalini Yoga: Kundalini yoga is a class that incorporates postures, kriyas, breath work, sound current, and meditation to raise the energy up the chakric spine.

Stress Management Yoga: This class provides education, breathing techniques, postures and meditation to help one manage stress in daily life. No prior yoga experience required.

Kids' Yoga: Parents can take a break and feel good about their children participating in this class which promotes the strengthening of children's growing bodies and relaxation of their creative minds with the added benefits of focus and discipline.

Laughter Yoga: Learn fun, hilarious and energizing ways to generate uplifting laughter from within yourself. Dr. Kataria, the founder, has developed a form of yoga that incorporates laughter to increase physical and mental well-being. It strengthens the immune system, reduces stress and elevates endorphins and much more. We breathe, we clap and we laugh. We have eye contact with everyone in the group. Even if you don't feel like laughing you can do it anyway. Fake laughter is fine, you will experience the same benefits. Cost will be $10 for a walk-in, or take it as a part of your class package.

Yoga for All: For beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. This class will offer breath work and asana (physical posture) variations for all skill levels.

Other Classes

Belly Dancing: This class is suited for the dance enthusiast or for those simply searching for a new, fun and exotic form of exercise. A head-to-toe workout, this ancient dance form helps students tone and align their body while embracing their beauty and individuality. (Please wear clothing that will allow you to move freely.)

Tai Chi: This class uses slow moving meditative forms based on this ancient practice that when performed encourages balance and general well-being of the entire body.

Kirtan: We will be chanting simple ancient mantras and melodies to clear the mind, reflect purity of heart and bring forth the Divine presence or mood of Bhava. Musicians are welcome. Bring your drums, flutes, bells, and join in on the freeing, uplifting and nourishing practice of Bhakti Devotional Yoga. All ages welcome. No experience necessary except knowing that you are breathing. These sessions will be a love offering that will be donated to the Lake Cares Food Bank. (First Sunday of the Month)

Bollywood Dance Workout/Choreography: Coming August 2007! This class is a fusion of traditional and classical Indian dance with the influence of some jazz, hip-hop and modern dance. This lively form of dance encourages movement of all parts of the body. It's a great way to workout, relieve stress and most of all - have fun!
Choreography: Saturdays 4-6 p.m.
Dance Workout: Sundays 4-5:15 p.m.

Private Sessions

Private Yoga Instruction: In each Private Yoga session you will feel the weight of the world fall away with guided relaxation, flowing asanas (physical postures), cleansing breath work and silent meditation. View rates.

Thai Yoga Bodywork: Consists of assisted (passive) gentle yoga postures which are used to release blockages allowing the body's energy to flow freely, alleviating conditions such as low back pain, sciatica, arthritis, neck pain and headaches, numbness, stiff or immobile joints, digestive difficulties as well as other injury and stress related conditions.
